Available Finishes
Options
Leaf options:
Full gilding, inner gilding only, and inner/outer is available. Combine with paint options to customize the frame.
- Standard Metal Leaf in gold and silver colors
- Precious Metals (additional charge): 22 Kt Gold, 12 Kt Gold, Sterling Silver, Palladium
Bole options:
The "bole" is the priming on which we lay the leaf (kind of like an underpainting). Depending on the finish chosen, the bole color can show through. Options are:
- Black - good for 12 Kt, Palladium, Silver, and Silver Metal Leaf
- Ochre - standard for frames in 22 Kt and Gold Metal Leaf
- Red - Good for frames in 22 Kt and Gold Metal Leaf
- Unber - Good for frames in 22 Kt and Gold Metal Leaf
Paint options:
For finishes other than full gilding, finish paint options are:
- Black (cool/warm), brown, sage green
Wash/Dust options:
Dust and wash give the frame a bit of an aged appearance. It can also soften the appearance of the gilded frame and is included in the price for any frame you choose. Dust/wash options are:
- Colors: warm or cool Gray, light Sienna, light Umber, Taupe
- Light, Medium, and Heavy washes are available
Other options:
Additional finish options give the frame a more aged appearance and include:
- Moderate or heavy rub
- Distressing (to imitate wear and tear)
- Imitation fly specs
